The representative of the Chamber of Accounts participated at annual meeting and seminar of EUROSAI Working Group on Municipalities Audit held at 5-6 October 2017.

The annual meeting of EUROSAI Working Group on Municipalities Audit was held in Riga at 5-6 October 2017. The event was attended by 64 representatives from 30 EUROSAI member SAIs, also by the Head of Economic areas audit department Azim Abasov.

 

It should be noted that this Working Group was established on the initiative of Lithuania SAI at the meeting held in June of 2016 of EUROSAI Governing Board to coordinate the SAIs’ activities involved in municipalities’ audit problems.

 

The main theme of the seminar was devoted to conducting municipalities’ audit, provision of effective, efficient and economic use of local budgets and the role of strategic development plans in increasing the efficiency in municipalities’ activities.

 

During seminar the representatives of participating SAIs made presentations, exchange of ideas and discussions on sharing audit practice of municipalities’, developing municipalities’ audits, cooperation forms between the parties in municipalities’ audits, use of municipalities’ budgets with effective, efficient and economic criteria, also the role of strategic development plans in increasing efficiency in municipalities activities. The representative of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan took close participation in the discussions on relevant topics. 

 

The representatives of Latvian Trade and Industry Chamber, Latvia State University, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional development made speeches and held discussions on activities conducted between SAIs and other government organizations.    

 

During the event the annual meeting of WG was held and the Secretariat of this group presented report on execution of strategic goals of WG Work Plan for 2017-2019.

 

The decision was made that the next meeting of the Working Group on Municipalities Audit to be hosted by Serbian SAI in November 2018.
