The representative of the Chamber of Accounts participated at the event held in Moscow, Russian Federation
The head of Economic areas audit department of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azim Abasov participated at the event hosted by the Chamber of Accounts of Russian Federation in Moscow with regard to arrangements for conducting cooperative audits in protection of Caspian environment and water biological resources. The event was attended by the SAIs of the Caspian states as of the representatives of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, Supreme Audit Court of Iran and the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia.
During the discussions, it was noted that the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea entered into force on 12 august 2006 plays as framework for regional cooperation in Caspian states. The Convention considers the preparation of relevant subsidiary documents as additional activity mechanism, also the minutes on priority areas.
The agreement ‘On protection and effective use of water biological resources of Caspian Sea’ was approved by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 16, 2014, 1124-IVQ. At 36th session of Caspian Marine Biological Resources held on 21-23 June 2016 the agreement entered into force on 24 May 2016 being ratified by the Parliaments of Caspian states due to the notification presented by the Russian Federation.
The round-table participants highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement ‘On protection and effective use of water biological resources of Caspian Sea’ for all Caspian states and topicality of audit subject for protection of Caspian marine biological resources. At the same time, catering the importance of participation of all Caspian states considered advisable to involve to this process the SAIs of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
Also, during the visit within the bilateral meeting between the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation the issues on expansion of cooperation between SAIs were discussed.
